Institut of Cultural Anthropology/ Folkloristics
Cultural Anthropology/ Folkloristics examines the great variety of ways in which human groups endow their lives and their world with meaning and order over time and space (local culture, regional culture, social life in greater regions as in the Mediterranean area, the Alps, Baltic states and so on). Human groups and their livelihoods are not only determined by their ethnic belonging. This is why the discipline takes a firm stand against suchlike statements and explications. Research and teaching focuses on people of different ethnic background, migration, integration processes and on the relationships between minorities and majorities.
